Monthly Meeting – All About Citrus!

This month, Stan McKenzie of McKenzie Farms and Nursery will be talking to the club about growing citrus in containers and in ground as well as bringing some of their varieties to talk about and sell after the meeting, Stan will be bringing an assortment of both indoor (greenhouse) and outdoor types of citrus. Among them will be Persian limes, Meyer lemons, Calamondins, etc for container growing. Also Satsuma mandarins and Yuzu lemons for outside and a few Barbados cherry plants for those who have greenhouses. He will also be bringing some other plants ( mostly fruiting) that will be good for anyone interested in edible gardening.
McKenzie Farns is located on Hwy 341 between Lake City and Olanta SC. They specialize in cold hardy citrus, eucalyptus and some palms. They currently grow and graft some 40 different species of citrus many of which are extremely rare and come from all over the world.
Our meetings are held the second Tuesday of every month at 7 pm at the Arboretum unless otherwise noted.
